2) Government influx of funding and proposed policy changes

The Canadian government provided a $42M Housing Accelerator loan to Kitchener to help build over 37,000 higher density, affordable homes over the next decade. The city of Waterloo voted to explore amending a bylaw to allow construction of fourplexs in low density areas. The amendment would allow 4 units up to 4 stories on a single lot without having separate bylaw amendment permits. Waterloo has also opened up over 2700 hectares of land for new housing development. All of these government initiatives support investment in real estate within the region.
